JOHN A. GOOD
June 10, 1951 - April 10, 2006
John A. Good, born June
10, 1951, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 10, 2006. Pastor Good
was born in Union, South Carolina. At the age of 14, he moved with
his parents, James Harold & Ruby Good, to New Haven, CT.
He attended Troup Middle School and graduated from James Hillhouse
High School in 1969. Upon
graduation, he enrolled in Miracle Valley Bible
College, founded by the late Rev. A. A.
Allen, in Miracle Valley, Arizona. Pastor Good graduated from Miracle Valley in 1971 as class Valedictorian.
It was there that he learned the value of prayer, the integrity of God's Word
and the importance of being led by the Holy Spirit. He later received his
Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies from Logos
Bible College
and Graduate School. After graduating from Bible College,
he and Gwendolyn Singleton were united in holy matrimony December 2, 1972. To
this union, two children were born, Devón and Darius.
Pastor
Good received his call to the ministry in November of 1970. In November of
1972, he received his call to the office of teacher. In November of 1974, the
Lord further broadened the ministry with the call to the office of pastor.
God's
plan for further enrichment led him from Arizona
to Los Angeles, to Ashland, Oregon
where he worked as radio announcer for KDOV and served as youth minister. He
returned to Connecticut where he and his wife,
along, with Rev. & Mrs. Christopher Williams and Rev. & Mrs. James Lamb
became founders of Community Gospel Center,
which later became Bible
Gospel Center.
Pastor Good has traveled to Haiti,
Brazil and the Philippines in
missions work.
Since 1975, Pastor Good
and his wife have labored together in ministry at Bible
Gospel Center
which is presently in Hamden.
For the past thirty years, the ministry has included a jail ministry,
neighborhood evangelism, Family Day Summer Camp, The Young Heart's Day Care
Center, Crown Financial Workshops, and missionary work in Haiti.
He also served as
president of Southern New England Regional Bible School and advisor to the New
Haven Day Women's Aglow Chapter.
Rev. Good is no longer with us physically, however, his teachings still continue to edify the body of Christ. He can still be heard on WDJZ 1530 AM every Sunday morning from 9:00 - 9:30 A.M.
