John A. Good, born June 10, 1951, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 10, 2006. Pastor Good was born in Union, South Carolina. At the age of 14, he moved with his parents, James Harold & Ruby Good, to New Haven, CT. He attended Troup Middle School and graduated from James Hillhouse High School in 1969. Upon graduation, he enrolled in Miracle Valley Bible College, founded by the late Rev. A. A. Allen, in Miracle Valley, Arizona. It was there that he learned the value of prayer, the integrity of God's Word and the importance of being led by the Holy Spirit. He later received his Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies from Logos Bible College and Graduate School. After graduating from Bible College, he and Gwendolyn Singleton were united in holy matrimony December 2, 1972. To this union, two children were born, Devón and Darius.

Pastor Good received his call to the ministry in November of 1970. In November of 1972, he received his call to the office of teacher. In November of 1974, the Lord further broadened the ministry with the call to the office of pastor.

God's plan for further enrichment led him from
Arizona to Los Angeles, to Ashland, Oregon where he worked as radio announcer for KDOV and served as youth minister. He returned to Connecticut where he and his wife, along, with Rev. & Mrs. Christopher Williams and Rev. & Mrs. James Lamb became founders of Community Gospel Center, which later became Bible Gospel Center. Pastor Good has traveled to Haiti, Brazil and the Philippines in missions work.

Since 1975, Pastor Good and his wife have labored together in ministry at Bible Gospel Center which is presently in Hamden. For the past thirty years, the ministry has included a jail ministry, neighborhood evangelism, Family Day Summer Camp, The Young Heart's Day Care Center, Crown Financial Workshops, and missionary work in Haiti.

He also served as president of Southern New England Regional Bible School and advisor to the New Haven Day Women's Aglow Chapter.

Rev. Good is no longer with us physically, however, his teachings still continue to edify the body of Christ. He can still be heard on WDJZ 1530 AM every Sunday morning from 9:00 - 9:30 A.M.
